Will FedEx deliver a package without signature?
No signature required
There are many shipments FedEx delivers that do not require a signature from the recipient. In many cases, FedEx will still attempt to obtain a signature at the designated delivery address. If no one is available to sign, FedEx may leave the package in a safe place without obtaining a signature.
To see if your package requires a signature, go toFedEx® Tracking to track the status of your package. If a signature is required, a reference can be seen in the Shipment Facts section located at the bottom of the tracking screen.
If no one is available to accept your shipment at the delivery address, your driver will leave a door tag. Check the door tag to see if we delivered your package to a neighbouring address or for the tracking information and the date of the next delivery attempt.
How do I know if my USPS package requires a signature? You'll receive notifications from USPS, or see the requirement on your USPS tracking page using the information sent to you by the shipper. A shipping label requiring you to append your signature will also be attached to the package.
What is a FedEx door tag authorization? A door tag is a notification left at your shipping address if you are not home to receive a package.
The delivery notice also includes the address and hours for the delivery hub for in-person pickup. After three unsuccessful attempts, the package is returned to the sender. FedEx obtains a signature from someone at the delivery address. If no one is present to sign, a notice is left and delivery is reattempted later.
It will be held for pickup as early as the same day of your missed delivery attempt. Packages not picked up within 7 days will be returned to the nearest FedEx facility or shipper. Refer to your door tag for the pickup location and availability.
A FedEx driver will leave a door tag at the recipient's door when no one signs for the package. When a signature is required, the delivery driver will generally try to deliver the shipment three times.
Tracking. If I missed a delivery, how do I know when you'll reattempt to deliver my package? We'll reattempt to deliver your package the following day. Generally, we make deliveries from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday–Friday, and on Saturday and Sunday for residential deliveries.
A "Waiver of Signature" is initiated by the Sender and authorizes delivery of mail at the letter carrier's discretion (if area is secured and protected from weather) without obtaining the recipient's signature. Note: Waiver of Signature must be checked at time of mailing by the Sender. It cannot be amended in transit.
What happens to a package when no one is home?
If no one is home when the letter carrier attempts delivery, the letter carrier will leave a notice and return the item to the Post Office. Check the notice for specific instructions or call 1·800·ASK·USPS to have the mail redelivered.
If your company ships high value package goods, pharmaceuticals, firearms, or alcohol, you will need to consider utilizing the Signature Required Delivery Services. Signature Delivery options are available for an additional fee from both UPS and FedEx.

The delivery person can't leave Certified Mail without a signature. If no one is home to receive it, the postal worker will leave a note that a delivery attempt was made. USPS only makes one delivery attempt. After that, the carrier returns the letter or package to the nearest post office.
If the sender requires a signature as proof of delivery but does not require you to be physically present to accept the package, then you can simply sign the door tag form as an indirect signature. This gives FedEx permission to leave the package at your address.
FedEx requires a government-issued ID to mail a package. Here's which forms of ID it will accept. If you don't carry any of these, you may be able to show other forms of ID, such as a Social Security card. Other forms of ID may not work, such as your work badge or a bank card.
If you know a FedEx package is coming that requires a signature, you can usually just leave a note for the delivery driver given permission to leave the package. The note must reference the tracking number, delivery address, and name and signature of the person signing. Your cell phone number is also a good idea.
Generally, FedEx requires a signature on all deliveries. However, we may be able to leave your package without a signature on the following conditions: - Have a suitable secure location to leave your package. - Your signature on the delivery attempt notice.
If a signature is required they have to knock or ring the bell (unless someone is outside to sign). If no signature is required it's an optional thing. Personally I always knock or ring the bell unless there is an issue such as an aggressive animal or a sign saying not to (some people work 3rd shift).
