What happens if UPS needs a signature and no one is home?
What happens if you're not home to sign for UPS? UPS will leave an InfoNotice at your residence that shows the next scheduled delivery attempt, or where to collect the package. After three attempted deliveries, the package is sent back to the shipper.
UPS will make three attempts to deliver your package on three separate business days. In most cases, you must be present and provide a signature to receive your package. If you can't sign for your package on any of those days, they'll typically hold your package at a nearby UPS facility for 3-5 business days.

If a package requires a signature, the UPS Driver can't leave it. If it does not require a signature and the driver won't leave it, he may not have the option. If the area is considered unsafe or if a package has been stolen at the address, the address is blocked from release.
UPS may make up to three delivery attempts at its discretion at your address on regular UPS delivery days. After the final attempt, undeliverable packages will be returned to the sender.
If the package couldn't simply be left, the tracking status will show UPS InfoNotice was left. If no InfoNotice is present, it means the package either hasn't been delivered or has been lost or misplaced. If your package's status shows a missing delivery, your first step is to contact the shipper.
If the shipment requires a direct or adult signature, then someone must be available to sign in person. If someone is not home to sign for a direct or adult signature, the courier will leave a door tag or reattempt delivery.
Can I leave a note for USPS signature required?
If a signature is required, no delivery person will jeopardize their job by accepting a note posted on your door.
Will UPS couriers knock on your door upon delivery? UPS employees have a policy to always notify the receiver about the package, whether to ring or knock on the door upon delivery.

UPS reserves the right to open and inspect any package tendered to it for transportation.
The delivery person can't leave Certified Mail without a signature. If no one is home to receive it, the postal worker will leave a note that a delivery attempt was made. USPS only makes one delivery attempt. After that, the carrier returns the letter or package to the nearest post office.
If no one is available to accept your shipment at the delivery address, your driver will leave a door tag. Check the door tag to see if we delivered your package to a neighbouring address or for the tracking information and the date of the next delivery attempt.

No signature required (standard service)
With standard UPS shipping, no signature is required upon delivery, However, you can still track the package online and request an email notification when the package is delivered.
