Why did my Chromebook screen go black and won't turn on?
The first thing to check for when your Chromebook won't turn on is a dead battery. Plug the unit in via AC charger and let it charge for at least 30 min to an hour and try turning it on again. A "blank screen" is when the light on the power button is on, but the screen remains black.
Your Chromebook may get stuck on a black screen if its battery is dead, or too low to boot ChromeOS. Plug your Chromebook's AC adapter into a wall outlet and ensure the other end is also plugged correctly to your Chromebook's charging port. One more thing: confirm that the power outlet/socket is powered on.
Please try to restart your Chromebook by pressing the Power button, as you usually do. Option 2: power reset. Press and hold down the power button for six seconds. Then, press the power button again to turn it back on.
Under the Settings window, scroll down until you reach the option for "Advanced Settings". Go to Advanced Settings and look for the option "Use hardware acceleration when available", and Disable it. Now restart your chrome and see if the problem of the black screen on Google Chrome is fixed or not.
Wake your Chromebook up
On Chromebooks: Open the lid, then press any key or swipe the touchpad. On Chromeboxes: Move the mouse. On tablets: Press the Power button.
In most cases, this will mean that you either have a faulty battery, or a faulty battery and a faulty charger. If the Chromebook turns on when connected to the adapter but turns off immediately after you remove the charger, it's very likely a case of a dead battery.
